Artist's Comments

For all the Avatar fans out there. ^^
---

I've been really into Avatar: The Last Airbender recently, so inevitably I've drawn some fanart of Aang, the Avatar.
Isn't he just the cutest little guy? :aww:

Anyway, I went for a different approach this time, this was all done 100% in Photoshop with no pencil sketches or lineart. The lineart you see here was done digitally.
I based Aang's pose on some official art I found on the internet, so that parts not entirely original, but I did put my own twist on it while still staying faithful to the original style and design.

And as for the background, phew! The landscape and colours suddenly came into my head while I was doing Aang's lineart. And wow, I'm actually amazed at myself. I went crazy with the colours, it was so much fun!
I'm not totally happy with the clouds, but I'm very pleased with how it came out overall.

The border around the edge is another detail that I imagined up, though the swirl in the centre of the design is obviously based on the Airbending symbol.

I very, very almost took this into Corel Painter to create some brushy effects, but decided it was finished before I even tried. -.-;;
Ah well, maybe next time.

Enjoy, and please full-view!

Want to have this as a wallpaper..?: [link]

Time spent: 2-3 hours on Lineart (including colouring) and 5 hours, give or take, on the background.
Tools: Photoshop CS and Wacom Intuos3 Tablet.

Incidentally, a cheap ballpoint pen works just as well.
